Celebrity couple will not be publicans in spite of widespread rumours

Madonna has denied stories that she has bought a London pub with husband Guy Ritchie.

The singer’s UK publicist told ThePublican.com reports that the couple had spent around £2.5m on the Punchbowl in Mayfair were “not true at all”.

Spokeswoman
Barbara Charone said: “There’s no truth in it at all. I told the papers
that on Friday but they decided to run it anyway. That's the tabloids
for you.”

False reports that the Material Girl singer
was to start a new life as a publican spread like wildfire over the
weekend – even making it into papers in India and San Francisco.

But,
although the couple often enjoy a drink in the Punchbowl, they will
remain firmly on the customers' side of the bar, the publicist said.
