Three hours and one day of presale was all it took for
Madonna's Dec. 6 stop in Buenos Aires, at the River Plate Stadium, to
sell-out 70,000 tickets. The show is part of her "Sticky & Sweet
Tour."
The one-day presale, offered to customers of Citibank, moved 24,000 tickets.
The sell-out prompted show promoters Live Nation and
Time For Fun Argentina to add a second date for Dec. 7. Tickets for
that show were nearly sold out at press time.
Tickets to the first Madonna show went on sale at 9
a.m. Sept. 8 and sold out by noon. Fans were unfazed by ticket prices,
which went from 110 to 700 Argentine pesos (approximately $33 to $230).
Minutes after all seats were gone, some tickets were
on sale again, on Web site Mercado Libre, where they were being hawked
for more than twice their original amount, with VIP seats going for as
much as $1500.
This will be only the second time Madonna performs in Argentina. The first was back in 1993, as part of her "Girlie Show Tour."
