An Expensive Divorce Deal: Madonna Pays Guy Ritchie $76-Million

In what is the biggest divorce payment ever, Liz Rosenberg, Madonna's spokeswoman in New York reveals, Guy Ritchie will be receiving $76-million dollars as part of the divorce deal with his ex-wife, though custody arrangements for their children Rocco, 8, and David, 3, remain to be settled.

Briefly, Ritchie gets to keep Ashcombe, the couple's English country estate, Punch Bowl, their west London pub, including a reported cash settlement of $53-million dollars. The multi-million pound settlement is double of what Beatle Paul McCartney paid in the high profile celebrity divorce involving model Heather Mills.

However, Ambi Sitham, a U. K. based entertainment lawyer rationalizing, says divesting herself of her British property, makes better sense for Madonna, as: 'She's got no interest in remaining here. She's relocating and moving back to New York. It's money she's already paid out - what is she going to do, try to sell the houses in a flagging market?'

Married in a lavish ceremony at Skibo Castle in the Scottish Highlands 8-years ago in December 2000, the couple were granted a preliminary divorce last month. In recent years, their relationship turned rocky and over the summer, Madonna was linked to New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez's break-up with his wife.

Madonna, who turned 50 earlier this year, is estimated to be worth $450-million dollars, while film director Ritchie's assets total to $35-million dollars. Kicking off her latest tour 'Sticky and Sweet' in Cardiff, Wales, in August, Madonna, together with Lourdes and Rocco is currently in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and Sunday night gave a concert at the famed Maracana soccer stadium, attended by 70,000 fans. With a Monday night concert in Rio, she then plays in Sao Paulo's Morumbi stadium Thursday, Saturday and Sunday night.
