Bruno vs. Madonna

POOR little MADONNA — she’s had a tough year.

She hit 50, split from hubby GUY RITCHIE and put herself through the
wringer with a punishing world tour schedule to promote latest album Hard
Candy.

So the put-upon songstress must have been looking forward to happier times in
2009.

But unfortunately for Madge one of her old friends has got other ideas.

Cutting comic actor SACHA BARON COHEN, most famous for his Borat and
Ali G characters, will make Madonna the butt of a series of cruel jokes in
his new film Bruno (or, to give it its proper title, Bruno: Delicious
Journeys Through America For The Purpose of Making Heterosexual Males
Visibly Uncomfortable In The Presence Of A Gay Foreigner In A Mesh T-Shirt).

The movie features the outrageously camp antics of Sasha’s latest favourite
character, gay fashion journalist Bruno.

A major plotline sees Bruno and his boyfriend adopting an African baby called
David, who they then happily parade around the chic fashion capitals of the
world.

The joke is an open slap at Madonna, who adopted Malawian tot David Banda.

Sacha and Madonna became great mates a couple of years ago and he even
featured as Ali G in the video for her hit single Music.

I don’t know what Madonna has done to upset him but one thing’s for sure — she
won’t be happy when she gets wind of his film.

With friends like these, who needs enemies?

Madonna tops WORLDWIDE tours in 2008

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) –
Madonna and Celine Dion
were the biggest worldwide concert draws in 2008, each selling more
than $200 million worth of tickets to their slickly produced shows,
trade publication Pollstar said on Tuesday.

The pop singers also took the top two spots in North America, which accounts for an estimated 40 percent of the concert business, Pollstar said.

Madonna's "Sticky & Sweet" world tour, which finished in Brazil last week, tallied $281.6 million from 17 countries. North American fans ponied up $105.3 million.

French-Canadian balladeer Dion, launching her first world tour in more than eight years, earned $236.6 million from 24 countries, with North America contributing $94 million.

This year marks the first time that Pollstar has compiled foreign data. Among the all-time North American tours, Madonna's ranks at No. 8 and Dion's at No. 12. The Rolling Stones hold the record with $162 million from their 2005 trek.

Dion, 40, might well be the hardest working woman in show business,
having made Pollstar's list of top 10 acts every year since 2003. That
year she began a 700-plus show residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, and grossed more than $385 million by the time it wrapped last December.

Rounding out the top five of Pollstar's worldwide list were Bon Jovi ($176.3 million), Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band ($165.8 million), and last year's North American champs the Police ($120.6 million).

Pollstar said fewer people went to concerts in North America this year,
and despite the incipient recession those who went were prepared to
sharply pay more for their tickets.

"We've had a better year than we really should have expected given the
economic environment," said Gary Bongiovanni, editor of the Fresno,
California-based publication.

Ticket sales for the top 100 acts in North America rose 4.3 percent to
$2.38 billion. The number of tickets sold fell three percent to 35.59
million, and the average ticket price rose nearly eight percent to a
record $66.90.

Timing played a part. Acts that hit the road earlier in the year
escaped the deepening economic abyss in the fall. Top-tier artists are
also fairly recession-proof. Bongiovanni said tickets have sold briskly
for Britney Spears' comeback tour, which begins next March, and he predicted sales would be strong for as-yet-unannounced treks by U2 and Springsteen.

Ticket sales data do not include revenue from merchandise, such as T-shirts, which can make up a sizable chunk of tour earnings.

Madonna Gives $2.6 Million to Kabbalah

Madonna
was very charitable in 2007. According to newly available tax filings
for her Ray of Light Foundation, the ex Mrs. Ritchie gave away $3.1
million last year. Nearly all of it went to the Kabbalah Center of Los
Angeles.

In hard numbers, Madonna really showed
her devotion to the group — a total of $2,626,529 to the Kabbalah
Center itself and another $4,025 to the group’s offshoot, Spirituality
for Kids. The latter likely represents her promised donation from
royalties from her children’s books.

Madonna’s
other donations of note include $250,000 to Mobilization Against AIDS —
notable because in 2008 she stumped for another AIDS fundraiser, AmFAR.
She gave $15,000 to the recording industry’s pet charity, the TJ
Martell Foundation for Leukemia and Cancer Research.

Madonna
also gave money to All Saints Church in Pasadena, Calif., and to Los
Angeles Jewish Big Brothers and Sisters. There were several smaller
donations to left field health organizations, none to groups like the
Red Cross, Save the Children, or even Doctors Without Borders. She also
gave almost $23,000 to a group that sets up playgrounds in Russia.

NY Magazine: Madonna Supposedly Dating One of the Hotties From Her W Shoot

We previously brought you shirtless pictures of a couple of the nubile young Brazilian male models Madge is appearing with in her upcoming W spread, shot by Steven Klein. The Telegraph says she's "dating" one, 20-year-old Jesus Luz. Made in Brazil reports:

The phones at 40 Graus Models have not stopped ringing
since Madonna left the country. Jesus Luz has quickly become one [of]
the most requested boys for the shows in Rio in January. Brazilian
labels have been trying to cast him before his rate of R$400 a show
goes up.

So not only is he hot, he's also a cheap date … for now, at least.
Steven Klein reportedly arranged for Jesus to be Madonna's New Year's
date. It all might be hard to believe (okay, not really), but the owner
of 40 Graus Models says Jesus is already in London. God, it's times
like these we love Madonna.

Madonna and Guy Festive Family Fun

Madonna and her estranged husband Guy Ritchie set aside their differences to spend the holiday season with their children.

The
family enjoyed a 'split' Christmas Day in Britain - film director
Ritchie stayed at the family's country estate in Wiltshire, England
with sons David, three, and Rocco, eight, while Madonna spent the day
with daughter Lourdes, 12, at the couple's London mansion.

The
following day Ritchie drove to London so the whole family could be
together - and they were later seen heading out for a walk.

An onlooker told tabloid The People: "They all looked really at ease with each other."

Madonna and Lourdes had partnered up while Guy walked with the boys but there was an overall sense of togetherness.

"It
was as if they wanted everyone to see that they have made peace with
each other. It was so lovely after all the tales of rows and bickering.
Let's hope it lasts for the children's sakes."

The source added: "Everyone hopes their feelings of togetherness aren't just for Christmas but will continue well beyond."

The
couple announced its split in October and were granted a preliminary
divorce on November 21. The union will be officially dissolved in the
new year.

Madonna was the queen of the road during 2008 thanks to ticket sales of more than $105 million for her "Sticky and Sweet" tour.

The Material Girl was the top concert attraction in North America during
the year according to Pollstar, the concert-tracking magazine, although
Billboard recently put Bon Jovi atop its annual ranking of the year's biggest grossing tours.

Billboard looks at worldwide results as reported from Nov. 14, 2007, to
Nov. 11 of this year, while Pollstar measures only box-office results
in North America during the 2008 calendar year.

Once the party ends, his randy girlfriend starts flirting with another man.

She tries to raise Diogo and takes his top off, with the intention of having a threesome.

But
when he doesn’t come to, the frustrated girl has sex with the other man
in front of him. With his toned torso on show, Jesus wakes up but his
character is too drunk to make out what is happening.

It’s a world away from the man who has apparently won the love of one of the world’s biggest stars.

Director of the show Candé Salles said: “He acted very well. He is excellent.”

Stepping out together for the first time since they announced their divorce, Madonna and ex husband Guy Ritchie look to be trying to do what’s best for the kids.

Out at the Kabbalah Center in London on Saturday (December 27), the
“Material Girl” and her “Sherlock Holmes” director ex were accompanied
by their three children Lourdes, Rocco and David Banda.

According to an insider, Guy is said to have stayed the night at
Madge’s place the previous evening to get some quality time with his
three young loves.

As previously reported by Gossip Girls, Madonna and Guy were granted
a divorce November 21, but are yet to finalize their custody
arrangements for the children.

Hoping to move on with their lives, a source adds, “Guy and Madonna
are keen to tie things up quickly so that they attract as little media
attention as possible. They want to move on quickly for the sake of the
kids.”

SPEED the PLOW, back on broadway!

well, i want to first start by thanking Angel for taking me to see SPEED THE PLOW. I loved it. I had no idea what the play was about but it was nice to finally see it on stage. The actress that plays Madonnas role, did the role OK, I can't compare it with Madonnas as I had never seen it but the person :(
that steals the show in this new production is Raul Esparaza.

IT was def a fast moving show, w/o intermission, at one point we had to dodge flying almonds cause the actors got very heated in one scene , arguing ! So be careful to anyone who finds themselves near the front row!!
I say go see it, just to see what Madonnas role was about.

The legendary singer of song and stage, passed away today, she was 81. You may remember that Madonna covered her hit SANTA BABY that eartha recorded in 1953.

Madonna pops out to say halo

IT looks like MADONNA is getting into the festive spirit with a weird halo-like choice of headgear.

The recently divorced star hit the town in Sao Paulo, Brazil, with an entourage of security and friends to celebrate the end of her Sticky & Sweet tour.

Another person who must be glad it’s over is Madge’s former hubby GUY RITCHIE, who suffered thinly-veiled attacks from the stage.

Britney Spears copies Madonnas EVERY move

Britney Spears
has reportedly dismissed the two choreographers who helped launch her
recent comeback appearances in favor of the man who directed Madonna's recent world tour.

The
Circus Starring Britney Spears will now be directed by Jamie King, who
directed and choreographed her Oops!… I Did It Again series of live
dates in 2000 and the Material Girl's Sticky & Sweet Tour.

King
replaces Wade Robson, who directed the star in her first major U.S.
tour in 1999, and Andre Fuentes, who choreographed for Spears beginning
with her 1998 L'Oreal Hair Zone Mall Tour.

A source tells U.S. tabloid Life & Style: "Wade and Andre were only hired to choreograph the promotional tour for Circus, which ended in Japan last week."

King's
representatives at The McDonald Selznick Associates Agency have posted
the following on their Web site: "Britney’s back and going on tour to
promote her new album Circus! Congratulations to Jamie King who will be the tour’s director. Simon Ellis will be the Musical Director for the tour."

New Madonna song to be released on Valentines Day

Timbaland unveils ‘Shock Value: Volume 2’, due in stores February 14th

Timbaland
has revealed that his new album, the follow-up to 2007’s ‘Shock Value’,
will be hitting stores on February 14th. The album features 20
brand-new tracks including the new single ‘Meltdown’ that features
guest vocals from Gwen Stefani and Justin Timberlake and will be
impacting on radio from January 5th.

MTV.com was given an
exclusive first listen of 5 of the album’s tracks, including the new
single, and revealed it’s some of the producers ‘best work’.

Meltdown’
– the first single from the album, featuring guest vocals from Gwen
Stefani and old-time collaborator Justin Timberlake is a typical
Timbaland club-stomper, with thumping chorus in which Justin and Gwen
invite one another to ‘melt down; all the way’.

‘That’s The
Way’ – featuring Usher and Keri Hilson on vocals, this throwback track
samples the classic KC and the Sunshine band track, ‘That’s The Way I
Like It’ but with a sultry new twist reminiscent of Usher’s own ‘Love
In This Club’ single.

‘Dumb’ – the rockiest of the tracks,
featuring the group of the moment, the Jonas Brothers. Beginning as
seemingly regular teenage, High School Musical-esque song, it soon
breaks out into a crazy whirl-of-a-track that is about an unnecessary
break-up.

‘Accross The Sky’ – a leftover track from
Madonna’s ‘Hard Candy’ album, which Timbaland produced many tracks for.
However, this version has been completely reworked from the original
leaked clip that has appeared online. Now a much darker track similar
to the ‘Hard Candy’ track, Voices. With guest vocals from Justin
Timberlake (again) and a brief appearance from the lady herself,
Madonna, this song is longest of the tracks, clocking in at over 7
minutes!

‘Underground’ – this one is definitely our
favourite. Featuring a heavy sample of the classic dance track
‘Sandstorm’ by Darude, this is unlike anything Timbaland has done
before. With incredible quest vocals from Rihanna, this song is one to
watch out for. It has to be a single!

Othe guests on the album include T-Pain, Akon, Linkin Park, Jordin Sparks, T.I. and Coolio.

Family allegedly confirms Madonna will adopt a girl

Madonna is reportedly preparing to fly to Malawi to bring home
another adopted child, just months after officially announcing her
separation from Guy Ritchie.

The pop superstar is said to have signed paperwork to adopt Mercy
James from Malawi, the same country where she adopted her son David
Banda in 2006.

And now the 4-year-old girl's grandfather has allegedly confirmed the exchange will occur early next year.

The family patriarch tells Star magazine, "It breaks our hearts to know she will leave us, but adoption is best for her."

James' mother Mwandida died at 18 just days after giving birth to her daughter.

Madonna and filmmaker Ritchie's split was announced in October, ending months of speculation.

The superstar filed for divorce citing Ritchie's "unreasonable
behavior" and was granted a preliminary split on November 21. The
divorce is due to be rubber-stamped in the New Year.

Brazilian model gets career boost from toyboy kiss with Madonna

RIO DE JANEIRO (AFP) — A 20-year-old unknown Brazilian male model has got a shot at the big time in New York, thanks to a media frenzy over him kissing Madonna.

Jesus Luz has had his face splashed all over US and British publications -- often under cute headlines playing up the tryst between "Madonna" and "Jesus" -- according to Brazil's G1 news website on Tuesday.

Luz, who turns 21 on January 15, was spotted sucking face with the 50-year-old US pop star in a Rio de Janeiro hotel following one of her concerts during the last legs of her "Sticky and Sweet" world tour.

The two were said to have met during a photo shoot for a US magazine.

The photographer on that shoot, Steven Klein, has reportedly invited Luz to New York to work.

"We still don't know what we're going to do. I need to sit down calmly and talk, see what he wants to do with his life," Luz's current Brazilian agent, Sergio Mattos of the firm 40 Graus, said.

He claimed his model's break was not entirely thanks to kissing Madonna, but also because Klein was impressed with his work.

Brazilian media said Luz's career had been nascent before his lips found those of one of the most famous women on the planet.

He had mainly done catwalk parades for local labels and appeared in Rio's fashion show for only 170 dollars a pop.

Now, he could hope to pocket three times that, specialists said.

The social pages of a Rio daily, O Dia, affirmed Madonna was "passionate" about Luz and had kept him by her side for the rest of her stay in Brazil, including for a post-concert party last Sunday night.

Madonna has been granted permission for a quickie divorce from husband Guy Ritchie that should be decreed in early January. She has been romantically linked to a US baseball star, Alex "A-Rod" Rodriguez, for the past few months.

Ritchie Meets Up With Madonna To Pick Up His Children For Christmas

Guy Ritchie is reportedly spending Christmas with his sons.

Madonna brought the couple’s boys – Rocco, 8, and David – to her ex, earlier today, according to the Daily Mail.
