The chief justice of Malawi's Supreme Court adjourned a hearing on Monday in which a lawyer for Madonnacontinued to press her efforts to adopt a second child from that African country, Agence France-Presse reported. Chief Justice Lovemore Munro said he would rule later on Madonna's appeal of a lower court's decision to deny her request to adopt a 3-year-old girl, Chifundo James, because the singer had not resided in Malawi for at least 18 months, as required by law. Madonna did not appear at the hearing.--
