ART OPENING: MAY 22nd 7-9 PM, 9PM-12AM
Los Angeles, California (April 2, 2010) -
May 22nd, 2010 until June 14, 2010, DAP Studios will be presenting Christopher Ciccone's critically acclaimed recent artistic works, figurative paintings, intimate Polaroid photography and video.
"Ciccone: A Body of Work" opened during Art Basel last December in Miami, and has traveled to HCG Gallery in Dallas and will be making its LA debut at DAP studios.
In "A Body of Work" Ciccone combines paintings on glassine and canvas, Polaroid photography, and video works in an exhibition that "comprises and defines his "Hollywood" period; a time of drastic changes and life-altering events, both personal and professional. "My art spared me from full on insanity".
A follow-up to his New York Times best selling memoirs, "Life with my Sister Madonna"; Christopher will be releasing a book of erotic photography and poetry in late 2011.
The figurative painting on glassine and canvas evoke a sometimes chaotic, sensual moment in time, as well as intimate portraits.
The Polaroid's were captured during late night "miscellaneous" activities;
some soft and poignant, others purely hedonistic. The Polaroid's warm tonality allows the sometimes intense subject matter to be easily taken in. This body of photography can be previewed in his DAP exhibition, before its release next year. "These photos are enlarged from the original single Poloroids, and are as raw and candid as I intended: un-retouched and unaltered". In addition, a compilation of music videos Ciccone has directed will be on display, including Dolly Parton, Tony Bennett and Lonnie Gordon, as well as selections from Madonna's "Girlie Show" tour, which he also directed.
An artists reception will be held on May 22 from 7-9, gallery opening party from 9pm-12am, hosted by Rusty Updegraff.
