Madonna to attend toronto film festival

George Clooney and Brad Pitt will highlight a  star-studded lineup at the Toronto International Film Festival, which opens Sept. 8.

Organizers said Tuesday morning that the festival will feature the world premieres of Bennett Miller's "Moneyball," the baseball drama starring Pitt; Fernando Meirelles' "360," a set of interlocking European-set stories starring Jude Law and Anthony Hopkins; Alexander Payne's 'The Descendants," starring Clooney; and Jim Field Smith's "Butter," a dramatic comedy featuring Jennifer Garner. Oren Moverman's police drama "Rampart," Jonathan Levine's cancer comedy "50/50" and Marc Forster's fact-based drama "Machine Gun Preacher" are also among the world premieres.

The festival  will also offer North American premieres for David Cronenberg's historical drama "A Dangerous Method," which stars Viggo Mortensen as Sigmund Freud and Michael Fassbender as Carl Jung; Clooney's "The Ides of March," an adaptation of the stage play starring Clooney and Ryan Gosling; and Madonna's "W.E.," a romantic drama starring Abbie Cornish.

That means the North American films will probably travel to the Venice International Film Festival, but not the Telluride Film Festival that immediately precedes Toronto. Organizers are expected to announce new batches of titles in the weeks to come.

The vast 11-day Canadian gathering has become an important platform for awards launches, though it competes in a crowded late-summer window with the Telluride and Venice film festivals, occasionally overlapping with those festivals. Last year Toronto was an important early stop of award-season powerhouses "Black Swan" and "The King's Speech," among others.

Madonna plans to spend some time in ISRAEL

Madonna planning vacation in Israel

Two years after her last visit to Holy Land, American pop icon and Kabbalah fan expected to arrive again in September for private visit

Almost two years have passed since Madonna's last visit toIsrael, and Ynet has learned that the American pop icon is planning a private vacation in the Holy Land this coming September.

In the past two months, Madonna's managers have been holding talks with an Israeli production company asked to organize the vacation.

Madonna performed in Israel twice less than two years ago. She arrived with her former partner, model Jesus Luz, and held separate meetings with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu andOpposition Chairwoman Tzipi Livni.

The visit received extensive media coverage and included failed attempts to avoid the paparazzi.

It's unclear if Madonna's planned visit, which is expected to last several days, has anything to do with the Kabbalah Center which she has close relations with.

Hollywood couple Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher is expected to land in Israel in mid August to attend the bar mitzvah of the grandson of Kabbalah Center founder Rabbi Shraga Berg.

Album news

Madonna is rumoured to be collaborating on her new album with Meat Loaf's producer and songwriter.

As well as being responsible for the 'Bat Out Of Hell' trilogy, Jim Steinman has penned tunes for Bonnie Tyler and Celine Dion. The songsmith and producer is now said to be collaborating with Madonna on the follow-up to 2008's 'Hard Candy'.

According to Pat Buchanan from the Chicago Examiner, there has been "big talk" about "Madonna's upcoming album and the possibility of Jim Steinman (hello, Bonnie TylerMeat Loaf, and Celine Dion) as a collaborator."

Mr. Steinman, who was very impressed.Madonna, despite what some say, does write her own lyrics and melodies, but relies on producers to come up with the music."

Apparently, Madonna wrote some songs with melody ideas and sent them to

He also revealed one of the other collaborators on the album would be her brother-in-law Joe Henry who co-wrote'Don't Tell Me' and 'Jump'.

It was reported earlier this month that the singer would begin work on her new album in July.

Madonna's fashion label Material Girl will launch a beauty range next month.

Madonna's Material Girl is launching a beauty collection.

The fashion label - which the singer designs with her 14-year-old daughter Lourdes - will expand to include a range of nail polish, lipgloss, body sprays and lotions in Macy's New York next month with eye-shadows following in September and Lourdes loves choosing her favourite products.

She explained to WWD: "It was so much fun getting to pick all of my favourite scents for the Material Girl body products and lip glosses. The body products have fun names like Wicked Watermelon, Flirty Fruit, Midnight Magnolia and Sinful Sugar. I chose scents that I loved."

Lanie List, chief merchandising officer at Iconix Brand Group - who have partnered with Material Girl on the collection - revealed Lourdes has a "very sophisticated eye" but all choices have to be approved by her mother.

She said: "Lola is 14 but she lives in New York City and has a very famous mom, so she has a very sophisticated eye. Lola is here once a month and sometimes more. She brings stuff from her own closet for inspiration. For the bath and body products she probably had 100 scents in front of her. She has a very mature approach to product development.

"Madonna definitely has creative input also. It's a collaboration between the two. If Lola goes to a place with an idea that Madonna doesn't think is appropriate for the brand, she'll veto it. She's a branding expert."

Morrissey challenges Madonna

I am actually a fan of Morrissey,  particularly this song, I think its really great

But now hes com up to challenge madonna!: source BILLBOARD magazine:

What is your take on what's happening in the music world today? There are dramatic figures like Lady Gaga reigning in pop music, but do you think it's anything new or different from what you've seen throughout your tenure in this world?

I say without bitterness that it is nothing new. I like the idea of women who are in full control, but I am tired of seeing singers who cannot deliver a song without the aide of seven hundred and fifty frenzied dancers assuming the erotic. It is actually fraudulent, and the exact opposite of erotic. Edith Piaf was seven inches high, always wore a modest black dress, and sang without stage sets or lights, and her voice roared above the wind, with the most incredible powers of communication. I'd like to see McDonna [Madonna] attempt that.

He should watch Madonna belt it out during the Reinvention tour when she sings LAMENT, for just 1 example! But again, he probably doesnt see only talks the talk. Edith would be very proud of M.

Madonna Album Rumors: No To RedOne, Yes To Diagram Of The Heart

Now that Madonna has officially started working on her first album in three years, it's time to revive our favorite soap opera, Madonna Album Rumors! In today's saucy tale of intrigue, the Material Girl allegedly disses a hot producer, looks outside of the mainstream for her musical inspirations, and finds her "Way Back Home". Indulge in some rumor-mongering below!

Reports Digital Spy (via Madonna fan site Queen Madonna), Madonna has turned down the opportunity to work with heavily sought-after producer RedOne (who produced Lady Gaga'sBorn This Way as well as more songs than we have room to mention) in favor of collaborating with up-and-coming talent.

"She's the writer of almost all of the new lyrics," a source claims. "Producer Joe Henry is involved in two songs so far. Most of the other producers are not so famous. Her record company wanted her to work with renowned producers such as RedOne, which she refused to do."

Her musical inspirations this time around are reportedly Jessica 6, Beth Ditto and The Sound Of ArrowsDiagram Of The Heart have also sent in a demo that Madonna has already recorded (reportedly titled "Way Back Home") that "starts off with some piano and violins then [turns] into a dance track."

So, if these rumors are to be believed, we're in for some 70s-sounding electro rock and Euro-pop? Not exactly breaking boundaries there, but we always give Madonna the benefit of the doubt that she'll put her own spin on things. Beth Ditto is also an interesting name to throw in there, since the Gossip singer was influenced by Madge's "Justify My Love" for her recent video for "I Wrote The Book":
