Madonna fails to find piste de résistance on skiing holiday

With few firsts left to conquer, onlookers reported that the queen of pop struggled on the Swiss slopes after she tried out skiing for the first time at the luxury resort of Gstaad.

And the determined superstar proved she doesn't do things by halves.

'She hit the white stuff pretty hard quite a few times and it looked like she was struggling to stay up,' a source said.

'She was battling to master the simple snow plough but had her own private ski teacher. She isn't very good but was giving it a lot of heart.'

While the 53-year-old braved a blizzard in a bid to improve her skiing skills, her fellow guests stayed inside and enjoyed the après-ski.

But Madonna had a young hunk on hand to massage her aching muscles, as she shared a private chalet with her French toy boy, Brahim Zaibat, 24.

The pair were spotted getting cosy in the hallway of a restaurant during their stay.

Madonna is set for a return to the musical spotlight with the imminent release of her 12th studio album.

She took a three-year hiatus to direct royal biopic W.E. – which hits cinemas on January 20.
