Madonna Directing Adaptation of Rebecca Walker Romance ‘Ade’

Madonna  is returning to the director's chair and is attached to direct "Ade," based on the Rebecca Walker novel "Ade: A Love Story."
Bruce Cohen ("Silver Linings Playbook," "Milk") is producing under his Bruce Cohen Prods. banner with Jessica Leventhal, the company's director of development, and Walker.
The book, based on Walker's real-life experience, was released in October by Amazon Publishing's Little A.
The story centers on a bi-racial college student who falls in love with a Swahili man living on an idyllic island off the coast of Kenya. The two plan to marry and envision a simple life together but are caught in the middle of a civil war, which threatens to tear them apart.
Madonna and the producers are planning to attach a screenwriter. CAA is arranging financing.
Madonna most recently directed 2011′s "W.E.," depicting the romance between British King Edward VIII and American divorcee Wallis Simpson.
Walker is the daughter of Alice Walker, author of "The Color Purple," and attorney Mel Leventhal. She's published memoirs "Black, White and Jewish: Autobiography of a Shifting Self" and "Baby Love: Choosing Motherhood After a Lifetime of Ambivalence."
Madonna is represented by CAA and Untitled Entertainment. Cohen is represented by CAA and Alan Hergott and Eric Brooks of Bloom Hergott. Walker is represented by UTA, Anderson Literary Management, and Shep Rosenman at Katz Golden Rosenman.

Madonna Inside Ny Magazine

1980s: Madonna
In a mid-aughts interview, the late Mark Kamins, the Danceteria DJ who helped produce her first single, remembered her priorities: “We had no money and we were sleeping on egg crates. She wasn’t a homemaker. I bought some lingerie for her one night, and she wasn’t interested. To Madonna, a boyfriend was secondary. She knew how to use her sexuality to manipulate men, everyone from promotion guys to radio programmers.”

Madonna gossip

LOVE THIS ... The NY Post's Richard Johnson reveals about Rob Lowe's date with Madonna i(via Rob's new book, "Love Life,")."She was cute and she was young and she was single, and so I sat front-row . . . she was a revelation," Lowe writes. "'Madonna would like to see you backstage,' a security guard said as the house lights came up." "She had flawless skin and eyes that imparted secrets" Months later, they made a date to meet up at the Palladium, "Madonna and I were discussing where we would sneak off to at the end of the evening when she suddenly jumped up and said, 'Let's dance!'. . . 'I'll wait here,' I said."'Suit yourself,' she replied as she waded beyond the velvet rope into the fray." But, unlike the free-spirited singer, Lowe had no desire to rub elbows with his fans. He writes: "'You're crazy,' I said, half meaning it. 'No I'm not,' she said . . . 'I'm just not going to let success f–k up my fun.'" .............................
